Circadians è il nuovo EP dei bergamaschi Metide, uscito il 25 marzo 2022 in cassetta e digitale.

 

Autoprodotto in autonomia e masterizzato da Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna), Circadians segna un’evoluzione naturale della ricerca sonora dei Metide.

Riflettendo sul tema del dualismo inestricabile tra corpo e mente, effimero e infinito, Circadians vuole raccontare una storia nell’arco di due composizioni gemelle, strettamente unite; con quest’idea in mente, i Metide continuano la loro ricerca che vuole far leva su elementi contrastanti, sviluppando suggestioni piuttosto che strutture-canzone rigide.

Le idee e la composizione di Circadians risalgono alla fine del 2019 quando, dopo l'ingresso del nuovo chitarrista Riccardo Vaccaro, la band si appresta a suonare quello che sarebbe stato il loro ultimo concerto per via delle cause che noi tutti conosciamo; quello stop forzato e improvviso ha senza dubbio condizionato il processo produttivo, agendo sull’arrangiamento definitivo dei pezzi, influenzando le atmosfere e la loro resa.

La decisione di affiancare ai due pezzi una componente visuale importante è (forse inconsciamente) un ulteriore tentativo di dare un forte segnale di ripresa delle attività, per esorcizzare i timori di quei giorni, offrendo al contempo agli ascoltatori un’esperienza immersiva. Le grafiche che accompagnano Circadians, a cura del cantante-chitarrista Omar e dello Spleen Studio di Bergamo, sono state realizzate  per esprimere il bisogno di esplorare i meravigliosi meccanismi ermetici che governano il nostro Universo.

Singer Gianluca Mastrangelo - Video collaboration (featuring Mistheria) of his rendition of Yngwie Malmsteen's "No Mercy"

Singer Gianluca Mastrangelo (front-man in De La Muerte and Vivaldi Metal Project) has released a video collaboration cover based on the famous song "No Mercy" by Yngwie Malmsteen. 

For the occasion, Gianluca Mastrangelo involved his band-mate in Vivaldi Metal Project, keyboardist Mistheria (Bruce Dickinson, Joe Stump's Tower of Babel, Artlantica), and other Italian musicians, namely Luca Basile (also him part of the Vivaldi Metal Project as composer and cellist), Luca Montella on guitar, Silvia Pistolesi on bass (Hellucination, Infinite Rising), and Andrea De Carolis on drums (5 Rand, Travellin 'South, Timestorm).

Con la data di uscita del loro nuovo album in studio "Wake Up Dead" posticipata all'8 aprile, i thrash metaller dell'Arizona INCITE sono ancora più entusiasti di condividere un altro antipasto dal disco, 'War Soup'. La nuova traccia groovy e grintosa è la prima canzone degli INCITE a vedere un duetto tra Richie e Max Cavalera, un incontro storico di generazioni heavy metal, oltre che un inno a prendere coraggio e affrontare i bulli.
 
Il cantante Richie Cavalera commenta: "La nostra nuova canzone 'War Soup’ è una di quelle che spaccano di più del nostro repertorio! È brutale, piena di groove e vede la partecipazione di Max Cavalera alla voce!!! Alzate il volume e scapocciate. La canzone parla di come affrontare i bulli, di non farsi mettere i piedi in testa, di parlare e di reagire. UK Alternative Metal Band JUNCTION 28 Sign With Wormholedeath

JUNCTION 28 have signed with Wormholedeath a licensing deal for the reissue of their EP "Before You Drown", due for re-release on April 29th, 2022.
Combining raw, energetic performances with their own distinct musical flair, Junction 28 are paving the way as an influential alternative rock band for the modern generation. Since joining forces in 2019, the group has captivated fans with their signature sound and entrancing stage presence. New listeners will be hooked from the first note.

“Before You Drown” is our first EP, conceived largely during the initial stages of lockdown. The project shifts our sound into a new spectrum, with a distinct focus on dynamic song-writing, electronic sound-design and atmosphere, all the while making sure to retain our penchant for hefty riffs and soaring melodies. Lyrically we turned our eyes inwards, reflecting on the personal issues and mental struggles that have permeated our everyday lives over the past year in a way we hope is both relatable and incisive. Bands such as Linkin Park, Bring Me the Horizon, Deftones and Don Broco were always in our minds during the writing process, though we also drew heavy inspiration from a wide sphere of genre influences, including alternative rock, heavy metal, electronica, synth-wave, and modern pop.

JUNCTION 28 is a band hailing from Essex in the UK. Aiming to combine huge riffs, dense electronics and soaring vocals into one cohesive aural assault, the group is now ready to show its new face to the world. Formed in 2018 by bassist Dick Phantom (Kieron Spears), it wasn’t long before the band began ploughing through venues across Essex and Greater London. Other Members include drummer Ben Woodwards, guitarist Gary Digby, synth player Kit Sylvester and lead singer Craig Keeling. Their first EP, “Before You Drown'' has been recorded at 'Hidden Track' Studios in Folkestone with producer Oz Craggs, the project weaves together the new and the familiar, its five tracks speak to a plethora of topics drawn from the band member’s own lives and personal struggles. Junction 28 is managed by UAC management and will be appearing in music venues in the very near future.

Irish Alternative Rock band MOVMENT has signed with Epictronic a deal for their album "Transformation", which is due for release on May the 20th, 2022.

Rockshots Records - ANNIKEN's New Single "Keep the Light" Pays Homage To Linkin Park's Chester Bennington

 

Norwegian solo metal artist Anniken will be releasing her debut album "Climb Out of Hell" on May 13, 2022 via Rockshots Records.

Today, she shares her tribute to one of her teenage influences, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. She explains further.

"This song is an homage to Chester Bennington. I tried to give the sound some hints of Nu Metal. The riff is more rhythmical. The lyrics are about how Chester’s voice was a light in the darkness of difficult teenage years. I loved Linkin Park, especially their album Hybrid Theory. After Chester’s death, I couldn’t listen to their songs for a while. It was just too sad. Then one day I listened to their album One More Light on a flight back home from a holiday in the UK. The sound was quite different than that of Hybrid Theory, but I loved it. And the song One More Light is one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking songs I have ever heard. I decided then to write some sort of response to that song, as a message to Chester. Just to say Thank you!"

Anniken has been a part of the Norwegian heavy metal scene for years with her band Darkest Sins, the studio project Ana – Metal for Charity, as well as being a part of her husband Marius Danielsen’s trilogy Legend of Valley Doom, both in the studio and with the live band. While in Darkest Sins she opened for bands such as Anthrax, Jorn, TNT, and UDO along with Legend of Valley Doom she has worked with legendary musicians such as Ralf Scheepers, Amanda Somerville, Roland Grapow, Matt Barlow, Doogie White, Jennifer Batten, and also actor John Rhys-Davies from the Lord of the Rings and Indiana Jones movies.

Writing her own songs and having a profound love of lyrics, Anniken is now progressing into her solo endeavours. Anniken's debut album "Climb Out of Hell" features nine tracks, a few of them co-written with her husband Marius Danielsen.

It is a varied metal album that is melodic, raw, and catchy with different types of songs for every kind of metal fan. Some slow, some fast, most of them heavy. Some of the songs have a deeper meaning to them, while others are just exactly what you think they are.

Anniken adds:

"Firstly, I want people to enjoy the music. Secondly, I want them to notice the lyrics. I love listening to music while reading them and trying to understand the stories that are being told. I hope that the listeners feel the same way. I like to also add, that some of the songs were written a while back. I had others that didn’t make the cut. Overall, it is fun to write with other artists and see how the songs turned out both in the studio and live. But writing with others also means compromising. And that is one of the main reasons behind starting my solo project. I wanted to show what I could do, without the guys (yes, the bands I’ve played with always consisted of all guys and me). It is, unfortunately, easy to underestimate female artists in metal. At least, that is my experience. There aren’t as many women within the genre as there are men. Very often I experienced that people just assumed everything was written by the men in the group. I don’t mind being “just the singer”, but I would love to show the world that I am, in fact, more."

French melodic/prog/melodeath metal four-piece Second Day streamed debut full-length album 'DAWN'. Out now on CD & Digital through all legal paltforms.

 

As announced a few weeks ago with "Matter Drop" and then "Eiram" and following a very successful crowdfunding campaign on Ulule, French melodic metallers (from epic-metal to melodeath passing through post-metal and progressive rock) Second Day finally released their debut full-length album 'DAWN', available right now on CD & Digital through Bandcamp and the main legal platforms.

In addition to the official release-news, the band also shared the whole effort for full-streaming on Bandcamp.

Founded in 2017 in the city of Besançon (France), Second Day started to play music as a cover band (and just for fun) before to draw its own musical path into epic-metal. Then, finding its way, the four-piece produced a first digital single ("Fireflies", 2019) before to record to an EP called 'Three Wizards'.

 

After months of hard work, Second Day released its debut full-length album called 'Dawn' on January 2022.

Wasteland Viper are a 4-piece hardrock group from the Netherlands, formed in 2016. The band combines a punk/hardcore vibe with clean vocal melodies in a unique way. They really delivers a solid and original debut album with quite a lot of variation, melody and power. The influences are there, but each of the bandmembers really adds their own fingerprint to the overall sound. Songs like ‘Live By The Day’, ‘Too Blind To See’ and ‘Overdrive’ are perfect examples of this. The lyrics are about different subjects with one overall theme; Respect the little things in life and finding out who you are.
We went to Tom Meier Studio Recordings for the recording and production of Dead Men Tell No Tales because we’ve succecfully worked on our EP ‘Unleash the Beast’ before. Tom really pushed us to get the best performance possible and his liveroom has fantastic acoustics that are perfect for recording rock ‘n roll.

Dead Men Tell No Tales will have a playing time of 38.20. The cover art is done by Serpent Artworks, logo by Dave Lambregts, pictures by Maaike Ronhaar and layout by Franck Johanson.

US Rock Phenomenon Tyler Gilbert Announces "Kill The Magic" Album

US critically acclaimed Rock artist Tyler Gilbert has inked a licensing deal with Wormholedeath for his new album "Kill The Magic", which will be released on April 15th, 2022.

Tyler Gilbert, speaking of the album, stated: "Kill The Magic" is a collection of ambient and rock songs written over the years of 2018 to now. The album kicks off with the message driven rock tune "Off My Feet" and moves along with the ambient soaring vocals in "Nothing Pt. 2". It moves more into the rock genre with the imagery driven soft rock "Fallen Moon" and reaches its hard rock destination with the doom metal similar to Black Sabbath "Cultivate Madness".
This album marks the first full length since 2019's "Underdog". Overall it is a much softer album delving more into the ambient and cinematic realm. Like his last albums, "Kill the Magic" was produced by Justin Bender and himself and features musicians Mark Ennis, Aaron Edgar (Third Ion), Mike Young (Mother Mother), Rob Dakiniewich.
